Brief Description of where we are located

Salama is a town on one of the main highways of Kenya, it is on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. It is a town on one of the most arid districts of Kenya i.e Makueni district in the eastern province. It is approximately 100Kms from Nairobi towards Mombasa.

At the Salama Baptist Orphanage, we provide shelter, care, and education to over 35 orphaned children of Salama and the surrounding areas, with the intention of showing God's love, and furthering the work of His kingdom.

This market of Salama has been neglected in many different ways especially in development. While this area is dry, communication network and transportation of people and unemployment has made it possible for many people to flock this area. Emancipation in this area has been growing with the years, many children of underage groups, young men and women before and after completion of their primary education, roam this township which is in a central place by itself and which is surrounded by other nearby towns in bid for survival. This area is the most populated as compared to all others in the county. Prostitution, violence, child labour, robbery, street children and thuggery has threatened this area. This cause is associated with the youth majority who comprise the group living on the edge of poverty and survival. While this is causing national concern, more facilities are needed to equip and prepare these youngsters and community at large for future settlement. Such preparation would in no doubt include programs geared towards equipping these people with viable and appropriate knowledge and skills.

our church outreach ministry has adopted the following strategies in order to help in arresting the problems faced by this area and the surroundings, Medical Outreaches to Salama and its surrounding areas, Feeding programs for widows, the elderly and Children, community based trainings on skilled Technical work and Information Technology among many others.
