Salama Baptist and Orphanage Ministries
Meet some of our Children in the Orphanage
GIDEON MAKUTHI (LATE)
AND GRACE NZIOKA (WIFE)
Meet the vision bearers.
Who we are:
Pastor Gideon Makuthi (late) and Grace Nzioka, the founders of Salama Kenya Baptist Ministries (SKBM) which serves the eastern part of Kenya, started Salama Baptist Church, and founded Salama Baptist Orphanage. The orphanage ministry started when SKBM started evangelizing the surrounding villages through mobile medical outreaches, house to house evangelism, providing food and clothing to the needy. They began to come in contact with orphaned children that had been left alone and uncared for. Sometimes left in the care of their older siblings. It was very difficult to reach out to these needy children with the gospel at their present state, they had no food, no home, no clothing, no medication and other life necessities.
SKBM then, started bringing these children to Salama Baptist Church where they started feeding and taking care of them. Gideon and Grace didn’t have the money to support the growing number of children. The children started sleeping in the church, and they refused to go back to their homes.
Gideon knew this was the Lord’s work and God would provide for it.
